Tuscarora Review Series

The Tuscarora Review was a huge part of my graphic design life. With this chapter of my journey, I created two unique posters, a form, and a magazine piece. The magazine was 64 pages long and it was printed on 8.5” by 11”. The customer wanted the cover to be somber but also feature student artwork. During a semester at Frederick Community College, I took pictures of a few classmates' works that were hanging up on the student wall. These images were related to the theme and ended up on the magazine cover. For the magazine, I ended up using Mrs. Eaves and Minion Pro as my fonts to give it a professional look. The two posters were created to inspire authors and artists to create work for their 40th edition of the Tuscarora Review. I created the two pieces because the idea was to invite artists and authors to release their creativity for others to see. The rainbow in the girl and guy's hair was to allow the creative juices to flow from the person's mind and into a piece of paper. I created it as art to be eye-catching for a fewer. I mean, artists love color, right? So, let's add a rainbow to the magic. I originally just had the girl but was encouraged to create more with this idea because it was so original. I ended up creating the guy from a random picture with the same idea. The posters represent any gender to create these amazing ideas. The form on the bottom right of the next page is to allow people to submit their work for the 2020 edition. The form would be shown across campus online and in the 2019 edition of the magazine. The posters and forms used Optima and Arial font to make it easier on the eyes of readers.
